Elfin Forest Seed Bug? -
Zelus longipes
Los Osos, San Luis Obispo County, California, USA
June 2, 2007
Size: .5 inch
This was at an elfin forest--an oak forest miniturized by constant wind and salt spray from the ocean. Los Osos is mid way between SF and LA. Thanks for your help!

Thanks, Boris!
Thanks, Boris. With your help I was able to further define the insect as a Bee Assasin (Apiomerus crassipes.) Thank-you.

Wait!
This is NOT an Apiomerus, but that said, I am not at all certain what genus it belongs in. Looks closer to a species of Zelus, but have not seen one with that particular coloration, unless it is a melanic form of Z. longipes. Stay tuned....

Ah! But notice how much more delicate
your creature is! Long delicate legs, etc, as compared to stocky football player of a bug you linked to. The Zelus are long and lanky as yours is.
