From the California Academy of Sciences collection. Taken on Asclepias. Determination by C. R. Vardy.

In California, the orange antennae together with the dark-tipped, orange wings are diagnostic for P. mildei according to Hurd(1)(1948,1952).

Also of diagnostic value are the "hair brushes" present (only) in males...shown in the last 3 photos of this series.

(Note: The left wing tip here is somewhat anomalous in not having the dark infuscation continue to the wing margin.)
