Dragonfly - Pachydiplax longipennis - male

Dragonfly - Pachydiplax longipennis - Male
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
May 24, 2012
Size: ~45mm
Apparently, I only saved a ventral shot of this dragonfly. This clown got hung up in the threads, when I got this shot. I'm guessing it's something in Libellula. Thanks

Moved
Moved from Dragonflies.

Can you tell if it was reasonably small from your thread count?
The eye color and the amber patches make us want to suggest Pachydiplax, but we don't know that we have ever studied the ventral images.

Added size
John, that was a lot more threads to count, than I'm used to. A Blue Dasher sounds reasonable
