Finally! A photo of a wasp that isn't on the fennel. This one seemed to decide that the bold, blundering and numerous Polistes dominula were just too much competition, so she (?) took herself off to the Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia.) I saw one a bit later on the other side of the yard poking (unenthusiastically) around the Salvia 'Mystic Spires'.

I've no idea if this is the same individual as shown above, but the photo was taken a few hours later that same day. This is a rare one in my yard.
