Forage Looper Moth - Caenurgina erechtea - female

Forage Looper Moth - Caenurgina erechtea - Female
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
June 8, 2007
Size: Approx. 1 1/4 in. wide
This moth was about 1 1/4 inches wide from wingtip to wingtip, as it sits in the picture. There were several of them flying around in the tall grass during the day today. They must be quite common, but I don't know what kind they are. I'm pretty sure that this specimen is a female, too.

Check
out the forage looper.

Wow!
That was quick! Must be some kind of record for shortest time to identify something in the ID Request section! Thanks! I'll move it poste-haste to the appropriate guide page.
