Laphria flavicollis - male

Laphria flavicollis - Male
Penny's Bend Reserve, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
June 1, 2007
Size: 14 mm
Size estimated. I finally got close enough to one of the Laphrias I see every spring to get some good photos. See comments on identification. (And thanks for correction, 6/19/13!)

Moved
Moved from Laphria virginica.

L. flavicollis
Laphria virginica has the scutellar hairs black, not yellow. This one appears to be L. flavicollis.

you might want to wait for Herschel to give the final word, but i think this is a fine picture of a male Laphria virginica. L. flavicollis are very close though.

Thanks
Excellent, thank you. I'll move to Laphria virginica absent any refutation from Herschel.
