Buckeye petiole leafroller and pupa - Olethreutes ochrosuffusanum

Buckeye petiole leafroller and pupa - Olethreutes ochrosuffusanum
Chautauqua Park, Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa, USA
May 8, 2015
Several buckeye leaves were collected 5/2/15 that contained various insects, which included this leafroller. 5/8/15 one leafroller had pupated - shown here near a larva (larva is 18mm long). By 5/16/15 the moth had emerged and was dead and dry.

The leafroller had damaged the leaf petiole causing the leaf to wilt. Inside the wilted leaf is where the larva fed and then pupated.
The moth was sent to Charley Eiseman, who posted it with ID - http://bugguide.net/node/view/1160357
