Bee, Carrizo Plain - Anthophora urbana - female

Bee, Carrizo Plain - Anthophora urbana - Female
Carrizo Plain National Monument, San Luis Obispo County, California, USA
November 1, 2015
Size: ~~18 mm
Found on a Kansas Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) that looked to be the only plant blooming for miles around on this drought-stricken native grassland. It was sharing a flower head with http://bugguide.net/node/view/1170053, but I cropped them into separate images for upload. Feel free to frass if hopeless; just thought this might not be a very well represented site, at least at this season.

Moved
Thank you, John! I'll move it there for now -- if it's good enough for you, it's good enough for me.

Moved from Honey, Bumble, Long-horned, Orchid, and Digger Bees.

cf. Anthophora urbana
Female
