Perhaps one of the Dagger moths.

David, that was my first thought, but the markings were so strong I could not tell.

Looks like this one could be possible . Was that the species you were considering? Tough because it looks to be so much fresher than any of the others if this is correct.

Second guessing myself. Did you consider (1)? I thought the Jim Vargo spread here might also be a possiblility and it lookd to me like they have been sighted in South Dakota.

I suspect we have to leave this at the genus level (sigh).
