Coptotriche spp. overwinter in their mines, so when you find them, check carefully to see if they are occupied. Rearing adults--and getting someone to dissect them--will be the only way some of these species can be distinguished.

 
Unfortunately most of the Cop
Unfortunately most of the Coptotriche mines I've found are partially opened/empty--either last year's mines or mines torn apart by predators. I will keep looking.
