Anavitrinella pampinaria? - Iridopsis defectaria
Newton, Baker County, Georgia, USA

Size: Body length ~12-15mm
I believe this is a Common Gray but Tulip tree Beauty looks similar

Moved
Moved from Common Gray.

The light 1st abdominal segment, bordered by black line that continues on HW & FW, is distinctive

I'm more inclined towards
Brown-shaded Gray but am not an expert. That info page[cite:1167619] has more to say.

This moth ...
lacks the "W" and the hollow discal spot in HW

"W"s and spots, etc.
Hi, Robert, nice to e-speak, just call me "Quakes-in-her-boots" for being disagreeable this morning. :o)

Here goes: Comparing this to the labeled image on the info page, I see two hollow discal spots; a "strongly concave [wave] near the inner margin" of the median(?) line; a strong "W" on one wing, less so the other; darker pigmentation above and below the requisite lines. I don't have an opinion about the 1st abdominal segment black line. There do seem to be some (impossible for me to describe in less than 10 paragraphs) differences in what I think is the PM line and this moth, to my eyes, fits Brown more so than Common in this area, too. Respectfully -K
