Explanation of Names
Specific epithet for its resemblance to another family of moths as "the insect reminds one curiously of a Crambus." (2)
Size
Forewing length: 11-16 mm (3).
Identification
"Broad costal, medial and dorsal silver stripes, the median one unbroken from base to apex" (3).
Range
"Occurs in the Great Basin from eastern Washington to Colorado and Arizona" (3).
Season
Adults on wing from August to September (3).
Food
Larvae have been found feeding on the roots of Ericameria nauseosa and Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus in California and Nevada (3).
