Mainly by size. It was around 2/3 the size of the C. scrutator that were here at the same size.

I am thinking this is a small scrutator based on:
1) antennal scape looks bulbous
2) more contrasting color between pronotum and elytra
3) size of foveae on elytral intervals.
Size in itself is not always helpful. A carabid specialist should confirm.
