What about Emerita benedicti?
They're both in your area and I have no idea how to tell them apart. Certainly that genus.

Just to be safe. I saw Gulf of Mexico as the range for Emerita benedicti, so I thought that ruled it out. But after looking into it more it looks like you are right, and it is in range for both
