Palpada on goldenrod - Palpada agrorum - female

Palpada on goldenrod - Palpada agrorum - Female
Allen, Collin County, Texas, USA
October 26, 2015
Size: 1 cm approx
Tried to follow the Palpada key http://bugguide.net/node/view/856490 and based on that I came up with palpada vinctorum. It is possible that it could have also been agorum.

This is my first time to post directly on a page so let me know if I did this wrong.

Palpada agrorum
Palpada agrorum...... female
P. vinetorum has the veins at the base of the wings orange and has the mid-femora broadly orange and hind tibia expanded and with thick black hair on both ventral and dorsal surface and the stripe on frons not so clearly stretching from ocellar triangle to antennae.

Thanks
Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Moved for expert attention
Moved from Palpada vinetorum.

If you're not 100% certain, you don't want to post to species. Errors that are not caught can mislead future BG visitors, who may assume that the IDs are solid. Let's see what the Syrphid specialists have to say.

Thanks
Thanks for moving it and giving guidance. I am excited to see what they think. I have found many interesting creatures on the goldenrod that I don't see anywhere else.
