Polyphylla crinita

How identified?
I am not disagreeing with you, but I'm just curious to know how the species are differentiated. Seems like there has been a lot of confusion over species in this genus.

For this particular specimen,
For this particular specimen, the redder base colour of the pronotum compared to the elytra along with the locality indicate P. crinita. Based on my examination of museum specimens and iNat and BG photos, P. crinita is by far the most common and widespread species in the Pacific Northwest and BC. Polyphylla decemlineata has been confused with many different species of Polyphylla, especially west of the Rockies. The species concepts I am using are from Young (1988) but there are still taxonomic problems with this genus that need to be resolved. See:

Thanks!
I appreciate it.
