Dragonfly - Epitheca canis

Dragonfly - Epitheca canis
Pointe Claire, Quebec, Canada
June 10, 2004
I had thought this was a Baskettail, but looking at other images, I don't think that's right.

Moved
Moved from Common Baskettail.

Beaverpond
This is a male Beaverpond Baskettail. If you zoom in and use a little fill light on the cerci, you can see their distinctive turned-down shape. It also has brown pile on the thorax, which I think is good for Beaverpond. Common's pile is gray.

Epitheca canis!
Nick, you are right. This is not cynosura, but rather E canis. Please compare the shape of terminal appendages with this shot from New Brunswick as well , to reinforce that ID

Common baskettail?
This sure looks like Epitheca cynosura to me.

Me too
Common Baskettail images: 1, 2.
