I'm stuck between Common Sanddragon and Illinois River Cruiser. I'm also aware that it could be neither and I'm horribly wrong

I was right, this species is apparently REALLY rare in Kansas so it was quite a find!

Nice bug
The thing to look for on Spiketails are the eyes that are pointed towards the middle of the head but separate or barely touching. In Clubtails they are obviously separated, and in all other dragons except Petaltails there will be an obvious eye-seam.

You might want to report this to someone as it might be a range extension.

Spike
Is often worn off or broken in females. Range into central Kansas but this is a little bit of a range tug. There are no other dragons like this dorsally. One of out loveliest dragons.

 
I am so excited with the drag
I am so excited with the dragons I shot yesterday! My first Corduleid and Gomphid! This one is probably the coolest dragon I've seen, and it was huge!
