Identification
Adult: forewing dark gray to blackish to PM line; subterminal area pale gray; beyond ST line slight darker; reniform spot pale; orbicular spot and AM line dark, edged in black; hindwing brownish-gray with dark veins and discal lunule, and double terminal line; head and body dark except for pale scales on collar and both shoulders (tegulae)

California to British Columbia and Alberta
Season
adults fly from June to September
