Size: ~6cm across
This specimen of orange-brown (not yellow) color was photographed on July 4, 1983, in Big Thicket, Turkey Creek, near the junction of Hardin and Tyler Counties.

This is the named form (only a few people still consider this a true subspecies I think) Eacles imperialis nobilis.

would appear to be Eacles imperialis
which is usually yellow, but can come in varying shades of orange.

Wait for expert confirmation.

Brandon, this one really puzzles me. I went to the Lep Society data base and E. imperialis is the only one that has been reported here, but I have never seen one marked like this. Look at this one . MPG shows E. oslari as only in AZ. I will ask Jason Roberts to look at this one since he authored this sub-species page .
