MothPostBurn_Datana_ranaeceps01182016_MS_ - Datana ranaeceps
Cypress Creek, Broward County, Florida, USA
January 18, 2016
The area had been burned recently and it was feeding on staggerbush/fetterbush.

With the narrow yellow stripes
and the orange red prothoracic shield we wonder if this might actually be Datanna modesta - for which we have no confirmed images on BugGuide!

Moved tentatively
Moved from ID Request.

Thanks for your help
I know its not confirmed, still exciting that it could be the first for BG if it is.

Very nice!
If confirmed, this would be the first caterpillar image of D. ranaeceps on BG. The hostplant certainly fits.

Picky Eaters
I'm not familiar with this one, but from my personal experience, Dantanas are picky eaters
