I have keyed it out to an unfamiliar group for me but would like a second opinion.

I feel pretty confident about Chamaemyiidae - these seem pretty typical of many I've seen.

When I saw the thumbnail size I immediately thought of

but maybe all black acalyptrates look that way after alcohol immersion. I don't see the fronto-orbital bristles to match, but they might be broken.

 
Coincidentally, I was looking
Coincidentally, I was looking at this exact photo yesterday! They do look similar but the sub-costa runs to the costa with no costa breaks so I don't think it can be a heleomyzidae?? I will give it another look on Monday. Thanks for your help again John.

I can't tell family from these pictures.

There are no photos online / bugguide that resemble these guys hence my hesitation that the family placement is correct. Ive added more photos.
