Nice find Derek! T. infernalis or near
One of the more northern records for AZ Terapus. There are two spp. in the literature from the US; but at least six species from what I have seen. We have at least a couple in AZ (actually apparently at least 3; one has a type locality in the state). Based on the MCZ type pictures, this appears to be T. infernalis or something darned close; but I have not seen the type of arizonensis yet to tack that name down. Keep collecting the histerids you see--you have added a couple names to my AZ faunal list already!

neat! thank you!
It'll be at NAU along with my other specimens. I'll keep up the Histerid collecting! If I ever got more than one at a time I'd send some to you...

All my histerids have come from SEGA (southwestern experimental garden array) and Merriam Elevational Gradients sites associated with NAU, it would be easy to arrange permission for you to collect at these sites if you feel the need.

Moved, Terapus sp. WOW!
