Cotton Springtail? - Entomobrya unostrigata

Cotton Springtail? - Entomobrya unostrigata
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA
January 22, 2016
I was hesitant to submit these photos because they didn't come out clear and the springtail is partially hidden in two of the images, but I finally decided to post them because this specimen looks more hirsute and darker than most Entomobrya unostrigata that I have seen here in El Paso.

Entomobrya unostrigata
Indeed.
Pls note that a freshly moulted specimen always has a more dense setal cover. Setae are lost during daily activities. Setae are restored after a moult. So an 'aged' instar looks always more bald then a just moulted instar.

Great!
That's good to know. I learn a bit more each time you make a comment or help me better understand these interesting critters.
