Digging Bug - Onthophagus nuchicornis

Digging Bug - Onthophagus nuchicornis
Creighton, Northern, Saskatchewan, Canada
June 9, 2007

Onthophagus
This is Onthophagus nuchicornis. Interesting scarab beetle in that it only recently (late 1970's to 1990's) spread through the Great Plains. Tinerella and Fauske (1999) reported the spread in Entomological News, basing their investigation on the first occurrence of specimens in various museum collections.

Dung Beetle
I'm sure this is a dung beetle, but I'm not so sure what it is beyond that. I'm pretty sure Phillip Harpootlian (or one of the many other beetle experts) can get it down to at least genus.
