Dixie Plantation, Charleston County, South Carolina, USA
June 17, 2007
Size: 2mm
An iridescent purple flightless something or other... sweep netted

Moved
Moved from Eupelmidae.

Purple
Female of Eupelmus (Macroneura) veiscularis (Retzius).

Eupelmidae
This is a Chalidoid wasp. They are often apterous, brachypterous, or fully winged. They are jumpers, and their thorax is geared to allow them to jump; when they die, they typically look like this because of the way the muscles in the thorax contract (or relax?).
