Edmonton, Strathcona, Alberta, Canada

From the Muttart Conservatory (arid-zone greenhouse), so maybe not even native to North America.

Accidental adventive.
Not 100% certain but thinking that could be U. diversus.

adventive
In that case, it would be helpful to update the info page for U. glomosus. Otherwise, amateurs like myself will continue to be mislead...As an editor, do you have the authority to correct the info page?

Not sure ... what you're
asking me to do. Uloborus glomosus is the only species of Uloborus established in Canada. It was clarified in the description however that this one was found inside a green house and may not even be native to North America (the climate inside the green house is different than Canada's so it may support species that otherwise would not do well outside, if she was finding them outside that would be another matter worth looking into). It was likely accidentally shipped to the greenhouse on a plant from parts unknown.

I apologize.
My bad, I didn't read the description. Really my bad... I thought you meant adventive as in the broader definition.

Likely introduced along with plants
Yes, I doubt it just came into the greenhouse from the cold (snowy and icy here now). But there's the potential that it may end up as a member of the household fauna in Edmonton, as are several species of spider that one finds in basements but not outside, so I'm glad to have an i.d.

other Alberta records
There is at least one record of uloborids for Alberta in Bugguide, but I was unable to find the relevant image (too bad you can't click on the map to get the images for that state/province!).

Uloborus glomosus
Is the only species of Uloborus in Canada. And btw, you
can
click on Alberta to get images, just like any other state or province. Just click on the square data point in the table or the place name to the left of the table. How else would you access data?

clickability
Hi Benjamin:
Thanks for encouraging me to persevere with the black date-boxes. I think I had the map window open before I signed in to upload the images, and so the items were not responding to clicking.
Cheers,
Heather
