Hopper #9 - Pogonomyrmex badius

Hopper #9 - Pogonomyrmex badius
Crooked River Preserve , Florida, USA
January 16, 2016
I have yet another tiny little guy. this one was just happily hopped on an ant hill which was made with the white sand that surrounds the preserve. in this photo here, you can see an ant walking past the hopper. this is intended to be a grasshopper ID, but if someone could also ID the ant just ever so slightly, your work will be appreciated, although I know there is not much to ID of the ant due to the low lighting in the picture.

My first thought...
on the ant was Pogonomyrmex badius (Florida harvester ant), but the petiole looks too thin in your photo. It would be good to have an expert opinion.
