I think this is a duskywing butterfly (possibly Erynnis juvenalis ?).

Northern Cloudywing

Thanks, I think you may be right. Butterflies of Canada describes the triangular arrangement of the spots in the middle of the forewing to a T. Don't know how I ended up skipping over the cloudywings on my way to the duskywings.

You missed it because the sun got in your eyes! Cloudy.... Obscures the sun.... get it?
