H'mmm, very interesting. This species is not listed in Heppner's "Lepidoptera of Florida".

Lots of new species

The warming climate has brought lots of new species to south Florida as well as south Texas and southeastern Arizona recently. It seems every time I go mothing in Florida, something new shows up that wasn't there before. Here's one I took in two counties last year (Collier and Dade) which was just recorded in the state for the first time a couple years ago:

And here's a species I found in Florida just once, that apparently hasn't been seen in the States before or after:

If you check out the P. acutangula page, I added a photo of a confirmed acutangula specimen for comparison. Note the very pale basal patches that seem to be distinctive for that species...

Neotropical species

Ted, I updated the guide page. You will notice from the referenced MPG distribution map, they are found on the southern tip of Florida.

Ted, while I've yet to find a written description, your images do not appear to match other Paectes descriptions or images. They do, however, look like known Paectes acutangula images. I'm parking them here, until we find anything to the contrary.
