Caenurgina erechtea - Forage
Caenurgina erechtea - Forage Looper

A year round moth in TX. I tend towards the above species rather than the very similar Clover Looper- Caenurgina crassiuscula b/c the two dark bands on your moth do not touch and the upper (basal) band does not touch the inner margin of the FW. Having said that some believe the two species vary so much that there is no reliable means of separating them.

Forage Looper v. Clover Looper
Many thanks for your comment and recommendation. I've viewed images of both on BG and agree that the two species are very similar looking and the variability within each is also significant. I hope our contributing editor colleagues at BG can give us the benefit of their opinion in this case. Best!
