Island Lake, Nevada?
I think you entered the incorrect state. Elko County is in Nevada. Could you please correct this? Thanks!

Noctuidae
Possibly one of the Sympistis.

Sympistis
Hi Kyhi,

The lack of a quality image and the size of this Genus will probably relegate this guy to the unidentified folder but I did some browsing anyway. I found an image in Discoverlife of Sympistis mirificalis that is very similar. A few observations in CA, WA and CO mostly at higher elevations. This species is not included in BugGuide. Further thoughts?

Jim

I'm not sure how to rule out S. dayi
Moving to genus for now

Sympistis
Thanks. Not very many of this genus observed in Nevada.
