I found a number of these while sweeping through grass and sweetfern.

Identification
This is corythucha marmorata. The only similar species are found in the southern U.S. and Peru.

Nice shot
To aid in ID, can you shoot it from the side, too, showing the "hood"? As you've done, it's good to note if others were present and in/on what type of vegetation it was found. Also, were the others all mature adults, or did you have some tenerals (nearly unmarked) and/or juveniles?

(I don't ID these, but have an idea of what Laura Miller would like to have when she doe provide identities.)

I don't have it anymore, so a side shot is out. All the others looked like mature individuals like this as far as I could tell on these tiny bugs.
