Male carpenter ant.
Surprised no one else has commented. I'm 90% sure this is a male carpenter ant, genus Camponotus. Moving to that guide page. Great images! Oh, and there are no "keys" to reproductive castes of ants, just the workers. Seems high time someone wrote a key, as often the reproductives are the most conspicuous individuals.

Thanks for the ID! Was afrai
Thanks for the ID! Was afraid it was a carpenter (found in my parents newly finished house, with wood everywhere), but its nice to the better degree of certainty so they can know what they're dealing with.

Where are the keys located that do exist? I'm still fairly new to navigating bugguide I'm afraid.
