Buprestid threesome - Buprestis lyrata - Male Female

Many of this medium-sized silver buprestids were mating on recently burnt pine trees. This threesome, however, was quite an usual sight!

A ménage à trois! I published my observation of such activity, up to a ménage à huit and including more than one species, all in the genus Acmaeodera!
