Red Velvet Mite - Eutrombidium
Clarke County, Georgia, USA

Size: body length 5 mm
Under bark of dead oak and pine trees lying on the ground. I saw four individuals today, two "guarding" eggs; I say guarding because the individuals kept returning to the egg cluster for 10+ minutes (when I left) after I pulled the bark off.
