Green Lacewing - predation - Chrysopa oculata - female

Green Lacewing - predation - Chrysopa oculata - Female
Richmond Hill, York Region, Ontario, Canada
June 17, 2007
The average scale is quite a mouthful for the Lacewing, but that was not a problem at all. She downed one scale after another, consuming more than two dozen "bite-sized" scales a minute. She grazed on the abundant patches of eggs as well.

What a good provider you are!
Bet you've made a friend for life.

Thanks Ron :-)
She was quite nervous at first, but when I fed her today, the Lacewing relished her meal very much and happily munched away. I plan to do her a last good deed tomorrow - releasing.

What? She doesn't get a mirror for primping?
Well, I guess release is better in the long term.

Oh yes, forgot about that
Know any places that stock small-scale hand-held mirrors? ;-)

Definitely difficult to find
Barbie is just, oh, so, out of proportion. In more ways than one. But maybe her hand mirror could serve as a full-length for Lacy here.
