bloom beetle - Byturus unicolor

bloom beetle - Byturus unicolor
Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
June 8, 2007
Size: est. 4 mm
Found several of these beetles in the nectaries of some white blooms. I'm afraid I failed to shoot one alongside my metric ruler, hence my estimate on size.

Byturus, isn´t it?
:-)

I had hoped so
but I had identified so many beetles as byturids in the past that turned out to be something else that I was frankly hesitant to venture a guess :-)

The base color appears to be testaceous (orange-tan) but a good test of that would be to soak one of them and shoot it.
