N. commorsalis - Nannobotys commortalis

N. commorsalis - Nannobotys commortalis
Salt Creek, Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California, USA
March 12, 2016

I don't think this is Nannobotys.
Nannobotys has much more white on the forewing than this individual. And its hindwings are white, whereas this one's hindwings appear to be medium brown. Also note the presence of the black spot in the white postmedian band. Nannobotys has a similar black spot, but it is proximal to the postmedian white band. Also, this moth appears to be nocturnal (on a white sheet?) whereas Nannobotys is diurnal.

This looks like a pretty good match for Noctueliopsis palmalis or perhaps some other Noctueliopsis species.

Yes
I think that you are probably right about the genus, but I'm not sure of the species.
