Soldier Beetle - Rhagonycha recta

Soldier Beetle - Rhagonycha recta
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
June 9, 2004
Shot in my backyard. Again, I am basing my ID on similar pictures in the guide.

Moved
Moved from Rhagonycha.

Rhagonycha recta (Melsheimer)
This looks like Rhagonycha recta (Melsheimer) in every respect. Green (1940) notes that R. recta is one of the most abundant, widely distributed, and variable species in this genus.

Moved
Moved from Podabrus.

most likely, Rhagonycha
but no Podabrus in any case
