Early spring forest-dwelling orb weaver - Eustala
Adamstown, Sugarloaf Mountain, Frederick County, Maryland, USA

Size: approx .5" total length
A very early orb weaver, several of which had cast webs in shrubs at eye level through an open oak-maple mesic forest (which has yet to leaf out). When disturbed the spider retreated to a nearby twig where it was exceptionally well camouflaged.
