I was thinking this, and this fly were both Euthycera arcuata. I noticed that, while similar, they are very different, mostly in the reticulation.

Yes - E. arcuata…
The description mentions the "mesonotum irrorated with brown dots and with dorso-central series of rather distinct brown spots". Learned a new word today.
