Not sure what species this is or even what genus if someone knows.

I am not an expert but I did lighten your photograph and concentrated on the beige V behind the head and the median lines. I came up with three possibles which has only been see once and it was north of your location, and which I have seen here and sometimes has a solid median line, and . Since you were in a desert location, I suspect one of the Genus Laetilia which are cactus feeding moths.

I suspect Phycitini
But its a very large group with lots of very similar looking moths, and this one isn't especially unique looking. Looking at the plates at MPG may help.
