Adults - broad white dorsal margin, the remainder pale to dark brown, usually with one or more whitish blotches along the costa (1)
Range
Lower parts (mostly 5,000 to 7,500 feet elevation) of the Great Basin ranges and Rocky Mountains from southeastern British Columbia and eastern portions of the Pacific states to northern and central Colorado (1)

Dark individuals closely resemble E. sphenisca and E. semilugens and can easily distinguished by the shorter labial palpus, simple costal area of the hindwing, and abdomen coloration, which is entirely bright ochreous ventrally(1)
