Parcoblatta americana? - Parcoblatta americana

Parcoblatta americana? - Parcoblatta americana
Denman WMA, Jackson County, Oregon, USA
March 28, 2016
Hi, Bugguide

My very first cockroach! I found this fast little fellow underneath a fence post in an oak savanna habitat. Does anyone know if this is Parcoblatta americana?

Thanks,
Phil

Moved from ID Request.

Almost definitely a Parcoblatta americana nymph...
It's the only known Parcoblatta that ranges into Oregon.

Parcoblatta
Thanks for the id! I have a couple of questions for you:

How big do these fellows get?

Also, are the fake eyes on the posterior end characteristic of Parcoblatta?

Thanks,
Phil

About 15-20 millimeters long...
It varies from individual to individual.

And those aren't fake eyes, those are the cerci, which are covered in a gooey defensive substance. I gums up predators jaws, etc.
