Size

Wingspan 19-24 mm. (1)

Larvae to 2 cm (2).

Identification

Adult - recognized by its small size, dark area around forewing PM line, contrasting dark hindwing with white fringe, and lack of blueish-gray seen in P. abstrolella. Male antenna pectinate, female simple. (1)

Larvae - mature larvae are yellowish apple green with yellow spots (Edwards & Elliot, 1883).

Range

Massachusetts to Florida, Michigan, Kansas and eastern Texas. (1)

Food

Winged Sumac (Rhus copallinum) (2).
