Spider found in North West Ohio and Central Indiana - Larinioides cornutus

Spider found in North West Ohio and Central Indiana - Larinioides cornutus
Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, USA
June 7, 2007
Size: 1.5 inches
I went through 100 pages plus of the Orb weavers and ALL the cobweb spiders. I found some that were close, but none just quite right...maybe a subspecies of 'Cross Spider'? I found this spider on the boat on Lake Erie (and maybe 50 more just like it). Last night I found one in Brown County Indiana that looks exactly like it...maybe I brought one back from Ohio?

Found one in SouthWest Ohio
I found a couple of these outside my garage last night. He/She is beautiful! I do not know how harmful their bite is to humans, but they are taking out some bug populations! It has a web that encompasses a couple of square feet so it is keeping the nuisance bugs in check!

I wish I knew what they are c
I wish I knew what they are cos I have them all over my porch! (I'm in Pennsylvania-BTW)

Indiana spiders
I live in North Central Indiana and these spiders tend to be everywhere around my house. Still searching to see if they are dangerous... Hope not. They are really pretty and seem to not be much of a problem except for spinning new webs every night..... The biggest one I have seen at my house is nearly 2 in.

Indiana Spiders
I have had some really big ones this fall.
