Generic name Phigalia is from the ancient Greek city of Phigalia. (1)

Food
Larvae feed on the leaves of deciduous trees.
Remarks
Some species have dark forms as well as light forms (e.g. P. titea).
Females of P. titea have very short non-functional wings, as shown in this photo.
