Haldemans Shieldback - Pediodectes haldemanii

Haldemans Shieldback - Pediodectes haldemanii
Spring Branch, Comal County, Texas, USA
April 11, 2016
Size: 9mm
Underside of a 9mm individual after the first molt. This more closely resembles the underside of the adults than those of the newly hatched nymphs. The newly molted nymph is also more robust than when it hatched, losing the narrow compact form of the newly hatched to acquire a thicker, sturdier body reminiscent of an adult.
