small orange Polydesmida - Eurymerodesmus melacis - male

small orange Polydesmida - Eurymerodesmus melacis - Male
San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA
April 8, 2016
Size: ~2.5 cm long
On the far west side of town, on the border between woodland and apartment complexes, I found two flat orange-and-black millipedes curled up under a rock, very similar in coloration but the second has more black, and are the ONLY such millipedes I found in the immediate area (I looked!) or that wooded area at large. The specific spot that I found them was along one of the many dry run-offs that only carries water immediately after a lot of rain.

It is a Polydesmid as you said, and I believe in the Genus Eurymerodesmus, but another should confirm.

thank you for the ID!
I had thought so too based on the photos on this site, but some photos of members of the genus Euryurus also bear some similarity and I could find no information on what differentiates the family Eurymerodesmidae from the family Euryuridae.
